Hi! Welcome to another edition of Did I Tell You About…, featuring my favorite pieces of pop culture at the moment. With the news a giant trash fire and the election less than four weeks away (make sure you got your voting plans figured out, k?), I feel pretty confident in saying that we could all really use some entertainment in our lives right now. And no, the fly living on Mike Pence’s head doesn’t count.
So, without further ado, here’s what shows, music, and more I’m into this week:
I’m listening to: Kelly Clarkson covering "My Future” by Billie Eilish on The Kelly Clarkson Show. If you know me, you probably know I’m pretty much obsessed with Kelly Clarkson, like in a bought-every-album-and-seen-her-live-six-times kind of way (yes, really). I’m very happy that her talk show is doing so well, especially because it brings us so many gorgeous covers like this one. Kelly truly can do it all.
I’m reading: This perfectly sad, funny letter Glow star Betty Gilpin wrote for Vanity Fair earlier this week about the series’ cancellation. ICYMI, Netflix just canceled Glow, one of the smartest, most entertaining shows on the platform in recent years. It’s a massive shame (especially because it’d already been renewed—WTF, Netflix?), and I’m so sad that we won’t get more of this on-screen world. If you feel the same, read Gilpin’s letter and then binge Glow to remind yourself of all we’re gonna be missing.
I’m watching: The Boys on Amazon Prime. After reading many rave reviews, I decided to give this “if superheroes were real and shit got dark” show a chance, and I am so glad I did. It’s really smart, funny, and original (not to mention violent—it’s very violent), and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the MCU and/or once had a crush on Chase Crawford aka Nate from Gossip Girl.

I’m excited about: The return of Sam Smith. Their (their preferred pronoun) new album, Love Goes, comes out Oct. 30, and I can’t wait. The second single “Diamonds” is already one of my favorite recent songs, so I’m super pumped to see what else they have in store.
I’m impressed by: Every interview Sean Evans does on Hot Ones. Seriously! As a former entertainment journalist who still does the occasional celeb interview, I view Evans’ questions on this Youtube talk show as the absolute gold standard. His recent interviews, with Jessica Alba and Ronda Rousey, are both great, to a point where you don’t have to be a fan of either star to enjoy watching. Major props to Sean.
Aaaand that’s a wrap for this week! Come back next Thursday for more, and let me know what you think if you check out any of the recommendations above.
