Want to be a published writer? I'll teach you.
My new four-week Zoom course starts in September.
I’ll never forget the first time I saw my name in print. Not because of what I’d written (it was a poem for my town newspaper, not exactly Pulitzer-winning stuff) but because of the feeling it gave me. Seeing words that I’d dreamed up in my head and knowing that other people - strangers! - were reading them was the biggest thrill I’d ever had. It made me feel like my voice mattered, like I had a story to tell.
Over the years, I’ve written thousands of stories, for dozens of publications. But I’ve never forgotten that thrill; in fact, it’s what inspired me to start teaching, so I could help other people get their voices heard through writing and achieve that same, incredible feeling.
And now, I’m happy to announce that I’m launching a four-week Zoom class called From Pitch to Publish all about just that: teaching students how to turn their story ideas into smart, compelling pitches that’ll catch editors’ eyes and, yes, lead to publication.
Because your voice matters, too. Whether you’re 25 or 75, or if you’ve written 100 articles or 0 before. We all have stories to tell, and if you sign up for my course, I’ll tell you *exactly* what you need to do to get those stories told.
So, what’s the course gonna be like?
Over the course of four one-hour weekly sessions, you’ll learn how to figure out which of your ideas are worth pursuing, recognize the components of successful pitches, reach out to the right editors, and so much more. Additionally, you’ll also get both a 1:1 pre-course session with me to discuss your goals and a 1:1 post-course session to go over your next steps.
Between my teachings, in-class exercises, and the group’s support, you’ll have all the tools you need to become a published writer. Promise.
And now, for the details: The class starts in late September, 8 pm on Wednesdays via Zoom. The cost is $400, but if you sign up early, you can get a $50 discount - so why wait?
You can find more info below, and to sign up and/or ask questions, shoot me an email. I’m so excited to launch this course, and I hope you’ll join me.
