Welcome to the first edition of Did I Tell You About…, my weekly rundown of the movies, shows, music, books, and articles I can’t get enough of and want you to be obsessed with, too!*
*But please don’t yell at me if you don’t like something I recommended. That’d be mean.
So, without further ado…
I’m watching: The Vow on HBO, the docuseries about the NXIVM sex cult feat. very painful-looking brands and Chloe from Smallville. I’m not a massive true crime fan (I know, I know) but this whole situation is crazy, and it’s a really well-made doc.
I’m re-watching: Euphoria, also on HBO. Not gonna lie, it’s mostly because Zendaya posted those obnoxiously good selfies last week and it sent me down a Gen Z rabbit hole and I started missing the perfectly over-the-top debauchery of this show. Thankfully, Season 2’s on its way.
I’m reading: The Lying Life of Adults by Elena Ferrante. If you haven’t read Ferrante’s four Neapolitan novels, you’re seriously missing out—they’re the best portrayals of female friendship and teenage life in ages. Her new book tells a separate story, but so far, it’s just as compelling and gorgeously written as My Brilliant Friend and co.
I’m listening to: Phoebe Bridgers’ “Tiny Desk” concert for NPR. Her voice is magic, her lyrics are haunting, and her green screen is epic.
I’m bookmarking: This excellent Vanity Fair profile of Kate Winslet, in which she talks about living in pajamas, filming her new movie that sounds very cool, and regretting working with Woody Allen (freakin’ finally!). Kate is the best.
I’m still thinking about: The end of KUWTK. I wrote up my theories as to why it’s happening here, but it turns out the answer might be simpler: money. Kris Jenner knows her worth, y’all.
Let me know if you check out any of the above and want to talk about it! You know I’m all ears.
